“Wear Your Hunt”

I, The Official Boot Man can create personalized cowboy boots, shoes, belts, wallets, purses, and other leather items utilizing your hides or skins from foreign and domestic hunts of elephant, alligator, cape buffalo, hippo, American bison, etc. I have used the tanned skins of hunters from all around the world to create items that can be used as a permanent reminder of the hunt.

The employees and boot makers of The Official Bootman, Custom Boots are thrilled to create leather goods using your hunted skins and hides. Your skins or hides will be inspected and judged for appropriateness for boots, belts, and bags when they arrive at the workshop. If we feel the leather is unsuitable for any reason, we will let you know and either return the skins or dispose of them at your request.

I have a philosophy of upholding the fit and quality of the goods I produce. I cannot, however, guarantee the strength and colorfastness of leather that we do not supply. Therefore, the customer must take on the responsibility if, for some terrible reason, personal skins or hides fail to hold up during processing or after the product is completed.

You can get help with tanning raw hides at one of the many tanneries in the United States. Some people focus more than others on a particular hide or skin. A tannery needs to deal with hides or skins, not a taxidermist. Tanneries are skilled in processing skins and hides for boots and accessories.

I have the option of saving your leather for later use or returning the remaining portion of your hide with your purchase.

When you supply the hide, my base cost is $2000.00. The process is the same whether you want your hide used for the entire boot or only the vamp (foot). For the tops in your price quote, we can supply an entry-level leather made from a calf, kangaroo, water buffalo, or goat.

For an additional fee, enhancements are provided, and I will allow you to modify your designs with inlays, toe choices, initials, etc.
